TEMPLE

This piece was an exploration of mixing rough collage as a pattern along with painted elements and pyrography. The phonebook pages were meant to simulate the granite stone the building was created from, with the details of the building loosely added on to create an almost living quality. The sego lily motif was meant to emulate patterns and decorative elements seen in similar structures, but juxtaposed outside the building landscape to both frame it and add a cultural context to the composition.

This painting was created with:
White phonebook pages
L.L. Bean catalog
