WINDOWS OF FAITHCreated during a single six-hour paint window limited to the city of Heber, this tiny business-card-sized piece focuses on the north façade of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. I was drawn to its historic architecture—the crenellated corner tower that frames the entry doors and the tall, rounded A-line roof that echoes the gothic arches of the stained-glass windows.
I chose this subject partly for its character and partly for its location. The small park across the street offered a quiet, shaded place to work, sheltered from the wind and traffic of the main road. From that calm vantage point, I spent the day capturing the church’s distinctive silhouette and the way its forms rose against the summer light.
