GOLDEN CREEKSIDEI was drawn to this scene by the contrast between the warm golden grasses covering the hillside and the cooler greens and muted tones of the vegetation in the foreground. The creek creates a natural division through the wooded landscape, drawing the eye into the composition and toward the illuminated hillside beyond. I was particularly interested in the way the autumn light and color transformed the distant grasses into a luminous backdrop, while the darker scrub and evergreens gave the foreground greater depth and definition. Through layered paper collage, I sought to capture that contrast of color and atmosphere and the quiet beauty of an autumn landscape.
