FAIRY MUSHROOMThe Fly Agaric, the familiar red mushroom with white spots, has long been a symbol of both luck and decay in Western culture. Though mildly poisonous and psychoactive, it is often regarded as a benign sign of the fantastic and supernatural. Evoking fairy rings, garden gnomes, and witches, it has played a supportive role in illustration and sculpture throughout history. But what if this pudgy little fungus were reimagined in the delicate guise of the fair folk from song and poem?
